Attachment Disorder

At Care NW, we provide specialist residential and supported living services for individuals experiencing attachment-related difficulties and disorders, supporting people within safe, stable, and therapeutic environments designed to promote emotional wellbeing, trust, resilience, and long-term positive outcomes.

We understand that attachment difficulties are often linked to early trauma, instability, neglect, disrupted relationships, or adverse childhood experiences. These experiences can significantly impact emotional regulation, behaviour, relationships, confidence, and an individual’s ability to feel safe and secure within their environment.

Our approach is trauma-informed, person-centred, and relationship-based. We focus on building consistent, trusting, and supportive relationships that help individuals feel understood, respected, and emotionally safe. We recognise that progress takes time and that individuals may require patience, structure, consistency, and compassionate support to build trust and stability.

Care NW provides flexible support pathways tailored to varying levels of need and complexity, including supported living, residential care, one-to-one support, and enhanced high-dependency placements where required. Our services are designed to reduce instability, minimise placement breakdowns, and provide the consistency and structure needed to support emotional development and long-term wellbeing.

Support may include emotional wellbeing support, behavioural support, structured routines, communication support, independence-building, social and relationship development, education and employment support, life skills development, and community engagement.

Our experienced teams are trained to support individuals who may display behaviours linked to trauma, emotional distress, anxiety, or difficulties forming healthy relationships. We use structured and proactive approaches, including Positive Behaviour Support and trauma-informed practice, to help individuals manage emotions, reduce distress, and improve emotional resilience over time.

We work closely with families, social workers, commissioners, NHS services, psychologists, CAMHS teams, mental health professionals, and wider multidisciplinary teams to ensure support is coordinated, responsive, and aligned with each individual’s wider care and therapeutic needs.

Our goal is to provide safe and nurturing environments where individuals can develop trust, emotional stability, confidence, life skills, and greater independence while feeling valued, supported, and understood throughout their journey.
